    Operational Stage Overview
    • Testing
      • Plumbing tests
      • Siphon tests
      • Water clarity
      • Water quality (first test of all relevant water parameters)
      • Aeration system test
    • Cycling
      • Initial cycling to introduce nitrifying bacterial colonies
      • Transplant of bacterial colonies (if cycling before construction completion)
    • Plant Seedling Establishment
      • Start seedlings prior to introducing fish.
    • Fish Introduction
      • Acquire fish and feed
      • Follow guidelines for acclimatizing fish to system.
      • Follow guidelines for adjusting the pH of the transport water to that of the system.
    • Plant Introduction
      • First crop: leafy plants (salad greens, possibly beans and peas)
      • Monitor water parameters, supply essential nutrients as necessary
        • Chelated iron is likely
    • Maturation Period
      • System should mature after approximately 3 months of operation.
    • Operational Period
      • System is mature and fruiting plants can now be introduced.

    Current operational Status
